Taiya Inlet Sea Kayaking Tour
This tour begins with a courtesy
van transfer from the cruise ship dock or your hotel to the Skagway small boat
harbor where your kayaks are waiting. Safety and operation instrustions
are given upon arrival. Once you board your state of the art, 2- person
kayaks your guide will take you for a brief practice in the harbor. Then
your group will head out to the beautiful Taiya Inlet at the head of the Lynn
Canal. From there, kayakers paddle quietly along the scenic coastline
accompanied by an experienced naturalist guide. Vistas include massive
mountian glaciers, majestic rock formations, varied native plant life,
waterfalls, historical buildings and sites, and plenty of wildlife.
Wildlife sightings may include up close looks at harbor seals, otters, salmon,
eagles, whales, and many more species.
As the tour continues, your guide provides narration on the nearby historic
Klondike Gold Rush National Park and gold rush era ghost town of Dyea.
After further exploring the waters of the inlet, the group leisurely paddles
back to the small boat harbor. Here, you will disembark from the kyaks,
shed your gear, refresh with a complimentary snack and board the van to return
to your ship or hotel.
