With a population of 1,741,785, Seattle is tucked on the edge of the Puget Sound in
the very northwest corner of the contiguous United States.
Nicknamed the "Emerald City", Seattle is known for the lively harbor, chic shops,
farmers market, sports, and numerous cultural experiences. The weather
pattern is consistent...Winter averages 41, Spring averages 49.9,
Summer averages 63.3, Fall averages 52.6, and you're probably wondering what
the average rainfall is...34.46 inches. The Rain is usually a gentle
mist that keeps the landscape naturally green and lush. Just think
Seattleites don't have to pay for a spa mist; we get it naturally.
Although Seattle ranks 22nd in the nation amongst cities with populations of
100,000 or greater, it has all the charm of a small town, including the
friendly people. You can order your coffee a thousand different ways.
The attractions are just as numerous in the metropolitan Mecca. Attractions
include Pike Place Market, the nation's oldest working farmers market since
1907; Odyssey, the Maritime Discovery Center; and the Seattle Aquarium. You
can choose to shop the trendiest shops, hike in the woods, eat at the Space
Needle, watch the Mariners hit a home run, or simply sip a double tall
skinny americano while enjoying the vistas of the Olympic Mountains, Elliott
Bay, and on a clear day you can view snow-capped mount Rainier in the distance:
Seattle truly has it all.
For over a century and a half, Seattle has welcomed people to the Pacific
Northwest. After
its 1851 founding, Seattle experienced a population boom that consisted
primarily of bachelors. Lumberjacks harvested the regions rich
forests; Gold prospectors during the Klondike trekked through the port
while Citizens outfitted the dreamers before their search for Gold in
Alaska. Seattle
shipped goods across both the ocean and the continent and produced the bombers
that helped win WWII. But, for the many who passed through,
many others chose to live in this culturally diverse beauty of a City.
Now Seattle is home to some the best made coffee, planes, and software the
country has to offer.
Life is good in Seattle, and getting here is easy too. It is a major
hub for almost all airlines. Trains, planes, boats, ships, and automobiles
are readily accessible in this area.
